About

Traffica, was founded in 2017 by Bashir Ahmed and Raj Prasad, both experienced and passionate traffic engineers and civil contractors, each with over 20 years of experience. Traffica has achieved substantial growth, now employing over 100 people. We are a medium-sized contractor with in-house skills and experience, gained through the delivery of a multitude of civil construction projects across greater Auckland.

Traffica has developed very good long term relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors such as Exaro.

Systems and Processes

Our project management systems and processes are underpinned by Traffica’s ISO-certified Quality, Environmental, and Health and Safety Management Systems.

Safety and risk management

We take a ‘safety-first, no exceptions’ approach to our project delivery with these behaviours reflected throughout our team. This is evident in our zero-incident safety record.

Prior to commencement of works, a site-specific health and safety risk assessment will be undertaken to identify hazards and critical risks. Each risk is assessed and assigned an Impact Factor based on likelihood and severity of consequence. Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, risks to health and safety must be eliminated so far as is reasonably practicable. If a risk can’t be eliminated, it must be minimised so far as is reasonably practicable. We use the hierarchy of controls to choose the most effective control measures.

We will develop a site-specific Health and Safety Management Plan which will reflect Traffica’s overarching Health and Safety Management Plan. It will include:

Prior to commencement of work on site, Traffica reviews our existing Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) for the scope of works to be delivered and updates these as needed. All workers (Traffica staff and subcontractors) must follow the SWMS for the work task they are undertaking.

Environmental management

Traffica has a comprehensive Environmental Management Plan (EMP) and Environmental Management System certified to ISO NZS 14001:2004. Our EMP sets out the procedures and environmental measures we employ to meet our Company requirements, legislative and Client obligations, and the environmental expectations of site operations.

We have clearly documented procedures for managing environmental risks associated with civil works, including erosion and sediment control, noise and vibration, dust and pollution. This may include methodologies such as use of water trucks/wetting down areas, sprinkler systems or the covering of soil and stockpiles with filter fabric to reduce dust, and scheduling the noisiest works for times they will cause the least disruption. These will incorporate the requirements of any relevant recommendations, regulations and consent conditions.

Traffica uses software systems MS Project to schedule projects, crews and plant, and WorkflowMax (Xero) to track deliverables against the programme, ensuring all projects are delivered on time and to budget.

“Quality first” is embedded in our teams as a core value and drives our customer-first approach from an individual level. Focused on having simple but effective processes for managing quality at all levels, our teams are supported through:

Work quality is managed by the Project Manager, with Bashir Ahmed overseeing quality management, ensuring work meets the specifications, contract and quality requirements. This includes monitoring and reporting to the client on all current works, outlining what quality and technical checks have been carried out, any non-conformances identified, and corrective actions required/taken.
